If you you haven't been touched by the mental health crisis we're experiencing, you're a very lucky person. Whether a friend, family member, client or even yourself, the increase in mental ill-health is devastating. Even without any genetic predisposition to mental illness, situational and environmental factors mean increasing numbers of people are hit by this vicious group of illnesses.
Medication and talking therapies tend to be the "go to" treatments for mental health. They work for some people. Sadly it often takes weeks if not months for any improvements to be seen - and in the mean time the symptoms of mental health, not least depression and anxiety, can make the simplest of every day tasks utterly agonising if not impossible.
Behind the scenes, Touch Therapy is proving an excellent addition to the more conventional treatments, and even as the primary therapy in itself. Benefits build with regular treatments, but even that very first treatment can provide a life-changing lift in mood for someone living with poor mental health.
There are a lot of myths and fears around how Touch can be used with this client group (as well as with other chronic conditions). We believe it's time to bust those myths, address those fears and get Touch front-and-centre to help bring wellbeing and resilience back to our communities.
Our brand new Touch for Resilience course has been designed specifically to build your confidence in being part of the solution when it comes to mental ill-health.
The two-day training covers:
Communicating safety to your clients' unconscious
How to use the Massage Chair (instead of your table)
The Window of Tolerance and how it applies in your treatment room
Using the Trauma Bucket with your clients
Zero Strain Touch Protocols optimised for building resilience
Tools to keep both you & your clients safe from re-traumatisation
Empowering your client to be an active participant
The unique Reset Protocol - perfect for anyone feeling "stuck"
We're running our very first course this November in Morecambe and are already seeing a very positive response - do check out the full course details and get booked in, or get in touch with your questions.
I really hope you'll join us in fighting back about this mental health crisis & look forward to seeing you our our very first Touch for Resilience course in November!
